Why Should You Care
With 12 Members from different states including Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Delhi,Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala - the Indian Blind Football Federation has spread its work across the length and breadth of the country since 2016, and is the pioneer organisation in an effort to promote and develop Blind Football in the Country. It is an unique platform to encourage sporting talents from amongst the visually challenged community from across India. This is a major effort to bring the visually challenged into the mainstream even in the field of sports.About the cause
The Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF), formed in 2016, is responsible for the Indian Blind Football movement and the National Team is an independent body developing the sport of blind football among the visually challenged in the country. IBFF is recognized by IBSA New Delhi (Indian Blind Sports Association), the Paralympic Committee of India (NPC of India) and All India Football Federation (National FA) for all technical support to promote and develop Blind Football in India. The aim of the project is to showcase the sporting talents of the visually challenged and offer vocational training skills which can help in employment.Activities
IBFF runs a full-fledged training blind football Academy (the only Para Sports Academy) in Kochi, India from Sept'17. The Indian Blind Football team (men) is ranked 28th in the world and finished 5th in the last Asian Championships in 2019 and has played in more than 8 International tournaments over the past 9 years, efforts are on to develop a Women’s Blind Football team and has been a voluntary effort without any official Government support or funding. The Indian Blind Football Federation holds national and Zonal events on a regular basis to identify new talents. In addition, we are holding grass-roots training sessions to provide basic awareness and training to new teams.Area of Work
